Madrí is now available from the bar. Introductory offer, only £3.50 a pint
Madrí Excepcional is a unique collaboration between the brewers of La Sagra and Molson Coors, with all the taste characteristics of a modern European lager. Full of flavour and aroma at 4.6% ABV with a light golden colour, Madrí Excepcional is crisp, clean and refreshing with a short, bitter finish.
February Update
This months update is certainly a lot more positive than the last one. We can finally see some light at the end of the tunnel. All being well the club we will be able to reopen Monday 17th May. We know this date isn't set in stone but, we are hopeful it'll happen.
Saturday night entertainment will start on 22nd May. We will be having a post lockdown party with with the superb band Dog in a Box. Tickets will go on sale 17th May at 11am and will be available from behind the bar. Tickets are limited and are on a first come, first served bases and no more than 6 tickets per person. Social distancing will still be in place and the rule of 6 must be observed.

We are now now taking booking for private parties. In fact the concert room is now fully booked for Fridays throughout July. Contact us directly on Facebook or through the website for more details. d
We will not be taking subs this year for current members. If you have a 2020 club card you need not do anything. If you have a 2019 club card, you will need to renew this when we reopen or you will become a lapsed member.
As posted earlier in the week by Eddie, we are still in desperate need for committee members. It doesn't matter if you are male, female or gender neutral. We just need someone who can spare a few hours a week. Please get in touch with me directly on Facebook or email contact@heatonbuffs.com if interested.
News about our summer New Years Eve party will be announced soon.
Stay safe everyone.
January update
Not a lot to update you with at the moment. Like you we are waiting eagerly to hear of when we can reopen. Unfortunately that doesn't look likely in the short term. When we do get the go ahead we should have a fairly quick turn around in reopening.
We are now tentatively starting to book bands for July to December 2021 in the hope that we'll be open by then. If we are we'll definitely be having a Christmas party night and a New Year's party. (In July)
Any bands interested, please get in touch. We may also look at the possibility of having bands on Friday nights (except when private parties are booked)
In other news Robert Telfer has been appointed as new club treasurer.
Which brings me on to a few questions we've received about how the club is coping financially.
Well we are in a very fortunate position here at the Buffs. The club has been run very well. I'm not just talking about recently but, historically as well. We have enough put by to see us through this terrible situation.
Committee past and present should be commended for the way the club is continuing to thrive and survive.
The government grants and furlough scheme are also a massive help. Without which it would have been very difficult to keep all our fantastic staff.
Stay safe & well.
We currently have no date when or if subs will be taken this year.
All memberships are currently on hold, so please don't worry about it.
We'll keep you updated when things change.

October 29 2020
Its with great sadness we announce the death of club doorman John Silvester. John died on duty at the club last night of a suspected heart attack. John was a real character and a good friend, he will be sorely missed. Our thoughts are with his family and friends at this sad time.
October 28 2020
Unfortunately The Brit Pack have had to cancel this Saturdays gig. Luckily we have a top class replacement, The Get Carter band. All tickets from the original gig will be honoured. So this is now sold out.
October 27 2020
Yet more sad news today, we regret to announce our acting treasurer Eddie Brown has sadly passed away this afternoon, after a short illness. Eddie was a long standing member of the club and highly thought of committee man
October 19 2020
I would just like to take this opportunity to thank all our hard working staff. They have been absolutely fantastic since we reopened. We as a committee truly appreciate all the extra work they have done.
We would like to ask you, the members and guests of the club to show your appreciation and try to show them some respect, which I know 99% of you do. Unfortunately some people think it is acceptable to shout and swear at our staff. This will NOT be tolerated.
Anyone abusing any of our staff will be dealt with by the committee, and you could lose the privilege of being part of the Heaton Buffs Club.
October 7 2020
Its with deepest sadness we announce the death of club treasurer Bob Field.
Bob was great committee man and loved working in the club, where he was a member for many years.
Our thoughts are with his wife, Margaret and his family & friends
As you are probably aware the government has placed tighter restrictions on pubs and clubs. Rest assured we will continue to be open and we will be following all the latest guidance.
From now on it will be table service at the club, no standing at the bar. When you arrive at the club everyone must sign the track and trace book, then go into the bar or lounge and find an empty table and sit down, maximum of 6 per table (see info about group bubbles in below)
A waiter/waitress will take your order and bring you your drinks.
As you can imagine this is going to be a massive undertaking, as we've never done table service before, so please, be patient, we will try and serve you as fast as possible. Last orders are now 9:20pm and all customers must be off the premises by 9:50pm
All over COVID-19 rules are the same as before.
Regarding people sitting together in the club, this is the advice from Newcastle City Council
"Residents are also advised to adhere to the following guidance to further reduce rates of infection:
Residents should not socialise with other people outside of their own households in all public venues."
Please note this is only advice but, it is a maximum of six people per table.
Saturday nights will continue with the concert room doors opening at 6pm and as before you will be shown to a suitable table on arrival. We will be playing 2 flyers as normal but, you must purchase both from the concert room doorman on arrival. (Band on stage times to be confirmed)
If you have any questions please use contact us
We will be showing all live televised football matches this season.
Please follow all social distancing measures when visiting the club.
Howay the Lads
We are looking forward to reopening the concert room this weekend but, please follow social distancing at all times.
Here are some of the changes we have implemented.
One way systems & floor stickers for queuing
Sanitising stations throughout the club
Protective screens at the bar, and screens for doorman & ticket seller.
Tables and chairs rearranged to help maintain social distancing.
On arrival you will taken to a table by a member of staff.
We are asking customers, if you can -
Use contactless payment at the bar.
Send only one person from you group to the bar and to buy tickets.
Return empty glasses & bottles to the bar.
Please respect other people's personal space.
New prices from Monday 24th August
Live Bands are back
From Saturday 29th August live music is back at the Buffs. We start with one of the very best, The Pre-Amps.
All social distancing measures will be in place so, capacity will be limited. Cover charge will be £3 with no concessions.
Members can access the concert room at 6:45pm non members 7pm.
Well we are all set and ready to open this Monday (27th July) Our opening hours are the same as before, 11am-11pm 7 days a week.
Please note, it will be members only (plus spouse) until further notice (Membership cards must be shown to doorman on every visit.) This is due to the limited capacity because of the social distancing set by the government. We have over 900 active members at the Buffs and they must take priority. That being said, if you are a regular customer please see the doorman.
We will be posting a video soon about how social distancing will work in the club and what you need to do when you get to the club ( ie signing in, one way systems, queing at the bar etc)
Friday evening and Sunday morning/afternoon bingo are back at their normal times. Both to be held in the lounge. No Thursday bingo just yet but, hopefully it'll be back soon. The Lotto draw is also back as normal.
The concert room will remain closed for now. We hope to open it soon.
I know people were hoping entertainment would be back on from 1st August, unfortunately this doesn't apply to us as we are not classed as a music venue.
